Increase your RSS Readers with rssHugger

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009
rssHuggerThere doesn’t seem to be a day goes by now that I’m not trying to find ways to improve the Lots of Freebies website or find new ways to encourage new visitors and today is no exception.  Today, I happened to cross a site called rssHugger which is aimed more at bloggers, or at least websites that also include a blog.

rssHugger aims to bring bloggers and readers closer together and provide the blogger with good backlinks provided the content is useful to the reader which is a good for both the blogger and the reader as there is enough junk floating around out there already.

The rssHugger website has some useful features like being able to browse through the blog directory to find blogs which are relevant to you, although I personally would like to see free text search option as well, and in addition there is a random blog option which works similarly to Google’s “I’m feeling lucky” or StumbleUpon.

Wayback Machine – Website Internet Archive

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

I was reviewing my website statistics at Alexa and I came across a link to the Wayback Machine which allows you to see what your favorite websites looked like in the past.  This is just a snapshot in time of the selected website but what I found really surprising was that a majority (but not all) of the links and images appear intact and usable.

Unfortunately there is no results for Lots of Freebies at present which I imagine is because the site hasn’t been around long enough but it did have results for a few of the very first websites I every created and it was great to have a little trip down memory lane.  These included:

CS Systems – A web development company I tried to set up in my spare time while at university

InteractCD – A voluntary youth project I was involved with while in my final year of high school.  This was set up to try and provide free internet access to young people in the area where internet access was unavailable or too costly.

Why not see if some of your old websites, clients websites or favourite websites (Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo, Ebay) are available and see how things have changed.

The Ten Top New Years Resolutions for 2009

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

With a new year come another chance to set some new goals for yourself, or even re-try some goals you previously set but were unable to meet.  New Years resolutions come in many shapes and sizes but the most common ones tend to stay the same and these include, but not in any particular order:-

  • Get out of debt
  • Stop smoking
  • Get Fit
  • Lose Weight
  • Enjoy more life
  • Quit Drinking
  • Get Organised
  • Learn Something New
  • Spend more time with the Family
  • Help Others

You can find a lot more information on the Top 10 New Years Resolutions for 2009 along with suggestions that will hopefully allow you to keep any resolution you make this year on Squidoo and hopefully Lots of Freebies can also provide you with free stuff, offers, discount and trials to help you along the way.

Why not make your resolution this year to pass on our freebies to your friends and family?  I’ve found that a quick email to let my friends and family know about a free chocolate bar or free bottle of wine is always appreciated.

If you are always forgetting birthdays, anniversaries or other important dates then why not make your New Years resolution to remember all the important dates in your life.  This is an easy one as you can sign up with a range of services to help with this including the free service from Manage My Alerts – An Online Reminder Service.

Why not let us know what your resolutions for 2009 are, and whatever they are, we would like to wish you the best of luck with them and all the best for 2009.
